Briefly about ReStore

Launching the ReStore shop in Warsaw is one of the dreams of the Habitat for Humanity Poland Foundation. One that is about to come true…

Such shops already exist and they function pretty well. They originated in the United States, where the first one appeared in 1991. Right now, there are over 920 of them, mainly in the USA, but also i.a. in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, North Ireland. The purpose of ReStores is to generate income for the Habitat for Humanity Foundation that handles the housing problems – locally and globally (more about the Foundation in Poland: www.habitat.pl, and around the world: www.habitat.org).

The stores around the world sell furniture, furnishing articles and finishing materials that come from donations. Our model is slightly expanded. Apart from the store, we want to propose a workshop space – the ReStore Lab, where you’ll be able to, for example, single-handedly renovate the furniture or make minor repairs, participate in workshops tied to that subject, or share your knowledge and skills.

The second activity, unrelated to selling, will be the ReStore Edu. A space for education regarding the housing problems, protection of the environment, and also the circular economy and the upcycling. Our trainers will be teaching mostly children and teenagers, but there will be an option to share interesting ideas with people of all ages as well.

We’ll be informing you about all the news related to the ReStore project through this blog. This is where you’re going to find out when we will open the store, how it works, what you can find there (products, educational programs, workshops), what stage of preparation we are at, and how You can become a part of the project. We’ll be also informing you about where you can find us, whenever we take part in an event.

Keep an eye on our BLOG, new posts will be coming soon.
